Working Hours & Shift Pattern
Full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week, all year round.

- Monday to Friday nursery environment with no evening or weekend work.
- The nursery operates between 7:30am and 6:00pm.
- Flexibility may be available around working patterns.
- A four-day pattern consisting of longer working days may be considered.
- Work closely with the Nursery Manager and wider leadership team as the baby room develops.
Job Description
As a Baby Room Leader, you will deliver high-quality childcare within a newly established, purpose-built nursery in Bracknell. You will lead a calm and nurturing room for babies from birth to two years, taking responsibility for daily practice while supporting practitioners to provide consistent, individualised care. The nursery cares for up to 57 children each day, creating an environment where practitioners can build meaningful relationships with children and their families.
The baby room has separate areas for mobile and non-mobile babies, a dedicated milk kitchen and direct access to an enclosed baby garden, giving younger children opportunities to explore safely. You will support individual feeding, sleeping and care routines that reflect home life while overseeing purposeful play and learning in line with the EYFS.
The nursery takes a child-centred, curiosity-led and nature-inspired approach to early years education. Children experience a balance of guided activities and self-initiated play, with natural materials and open-ended resources supporting imagination, communication, physical development and emotional wellbeing. This Baby Room Leader position combines hands-on early years practice with team leadership and the opportunity to influence how a growing room develops.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the baby room, maintaining a calm, welcoming and well-organised environment.
- Support, mentor and motivate practitioners, promoting consistent standards of childcare across the room.
- Deliver nurturing and developmentally appropriate care for babies from birth to two years.
- Plan and oversee engaging learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Use observations and assessments to understand children's interests, monitor progress and inform planning.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures, nursery policies and Ofsted requirements are consistently followed.
- Support individual feeding, sleeping and care routines that reflect each child's needs and home life.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, communicating clearly about routines, wellbeing and development.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure the baby room and milk-preparation facilities meet high hygiene and operational standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Nursery Manager and leadership team to develop the room as nursery occupancy grows.
Essential Requirements
- You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Previous Room Leader, Senior Practitioner or supervisory experience within a nursery or early years setting.
- Practical experience caring for babies, supported by strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding.
- Confidence leading, supporting and developing a team while maintaining accurate records and consistently high standards.
- Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
- Able to take ownership of daily room operations while working collaboratively with nursery leadership. An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one before employment, is required.
