Working Hours & Shift Pattern
Full-time, permanent and all year round.
Egham, Surrey, TW20.
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Flexible shift patterns across the nursery's opening hours
- Applicants must be available for shifts between 7:30am and 6:00pm
- This is an all-year-round position rather than a term-time-only role
- Lead the day-to-day operation of your room while working closely with the wider nursery team
Job Description
As a Room Leader, you will deliver high-quality childcare and early years education within an established nursery in Egham, TW20. You will take day-to-day responsibility for a welcoming, stimulating room, leading practitioners by example and ensuring children feel safe, understood and encouraged to develop through purposeful learning and play.
You will oversee planning, observations and learning records in line with the EYFS framework while helping practitioners recognise each child's individual needs, interests and developmental milestones. Strong family partnerships are central to the setting, and you will build trusted relationships with parents and carers through clear, professional communication.
This nurseries & early years position combines hands-on childcare with room leadership, giving you the opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills while contributing to a calm, well-resourced environment that promotes emotional security, curiosity, confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and support the practitioners working within your room
- Deliver high-quality childcare and education in line with the EYFS framework
- Plan, implement and evaluate purposeful, age-appropriate learning experiences
- Recognise and support each child's individual needs, interests and developmental milestones
- Maintain accurate observations, assessments and individual learning journals
- Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating environment that encourages confidence and independence
- Build open and professional relationships with parents and carers through regular communication and progress updates
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and professional practice
- Manage effective room routines, transitions and the organisation of resources
- Contribute to team meetings, nursery development and continuous improvement
Essential Requirements
- You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- A full and relevant Level 3 or higher qualification in Early Years Education, Childcare, CCLD or an equivalent UK-recognised qualification
- Previous experience within a nursery or early years setting, ideally with leadership or supervisory responsibility
- Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding standards, child development and high-quality nursery practice
- Ability to lead a room, support colleagues, plan engaging learning experiences and maintain accurate developmental records
- A calm, positive and professional communication style, with the ability to build trusted relationships with children, families and colleagues
- Confidence using your initiative, making day-to-day decisions and taking responsibility for standards within your room while collaborating with the wider nursery team
