Nursery Room Leader - Lightwater, Surrey, GU18
Join a welcoming, established early years setting in Lightwater as Nursery Room Leader. You will help lead high-quality care and learning for children aged from three months to five years, working within a thoughtful environment shaped by child-led learning, purposeful play and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Employment Type
Permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday for 51 weeks of the year. The nursery closes for the week between Christmas and New Year.

£29,500 to £30,000 per annum + benefits

Job Description
As a Nursery Room Leader, you will help deliver high-quality care, learning and development experiences for children aged three months to five years in a Lightwater nursery setting. You will support room organisation, guide colleagues and create engaging child-led experiences through play and exploration. Based in the GU18 area, the nursery offers enriching indoor spaces, a dedicated outdoor area and a holistic approach guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Help lead the day-to-day organisation and delivery of your nursery room
- Provide warm, responsive care that supports children’s wellbeing and development
- Plan and deliver purposeful, child-led learning experiences through play
- Observe children’s interests, progress and development and inform planning
- Create engaging indoor and outdoor learning opportunities
- Support colleagues with routines, room standards and consistent practice
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues
- Contribute to safeguarding, health and safety and nursery procedures
- Maintain accurate observations, records and learning documentation
- Support an inclusive environment where every child can thrive
Essential Requirements
- You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years or a relevant equivalent
- Experience working as a Nursery Practitioner, Room Leader or experienced early years professional
- Knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Ability to plan purposeful play, support child-led learning and guide room practice
- Warm, communicative and collaborative approach with children, families and colleagues
- Ability to take responsibility for room organisation, routines, records and learning experiences
