Job Description
As a Nursery Room Leader, you will deliver high-quality care, learning and development opportunities for children aged three months to five years within a welcoming Midhurst nursery setting. You will help lead a room team, create engaging child-led experiences and build strong relationships with children and families. Based in the GU29 area, the setting includes three rooms, an open-plan garden and carefully planned environments influenced by Reggio Emilia, Scandinavian and forestry principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day organisation and delivery of your nursery room
- Provide warm, responsive care that supports children’s wellbeing and development
- Plan and deliver purposeful, child-led learning experiences through play and exploration
- Observe children’s interests, progress and development and use this information to inform planning
- Create stimulating indoor and outdoor learning opportunities, including experiences inspired by forestry principles
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues
- Work collaboratively with the wider nursery team to maintain consistent practice and high standards
- Support effective safeguarding, health and safety and nursery procedures
- Maintain accurate observations, records and learning documentation
- Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive
Essential Requirements
- You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Relevant early years qualifications and experience suitable for room leadership
- Experience working in an early years or childcare setting, with the confidence to lead daily room practice
- Knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Ability to plan purposeful play, support child-led learning and respond to individual needs
- Warm, communicative and collaborative approach when working with children, families and colleagues
- Ability to take responsibility for room organisation, routines, records and learning experiences
