Job Description
As a Nursery Room Leader, you will support the day-to-day running of a welcoming nursery setting in Guildford, Surrey GU1, helping to deliver high-quality childcare and engaging early years education within a supportive and child-centred environment. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Nursery Practitioner or Early Years Room Leader looking to progress within a well-established EYFS setting focused on nurturing development, creativity, learning, and positive relationships with children and families.
Within this nursery environment, you will play a key role in supporting EYFS delivery, mentoring team members, and maintaining excellent standards of childcare and safeguarding. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily running of a designated nursery room
- Support children’s learning and development in line with EYFS
- Create engaging and stimulating learning activities
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child welfare
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior nursery staff
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers
- Monitor children’s progress and developmental milestones
- Ensure accurate documentation and observation records are maintained
- Support health, safety, hygiene, and compliance procedures
- Work collaboratively with the wider nursery leadership team
Requirements
- You must have the permanent right to work in the UK
- Relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a Room Leader, Early Years Room Leader, or senior Nursery Practitioner
- Strong understanding of Nursery (EYFS) environments and childcare delivery
- Ability to support child development, safeguarding, and learning outcomes
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and colleagues
- Ability to work independently while leading and supporting a room team
