Role Overview
- Permanent, full-time Nursery Assistant position
- 40 hours per week, working all year round
- Monday to Friday with no evening or weekend work
- Based in Binfield, Bracknell, RG42
- Nursery opening hours are 7:30am to 6:00pm
- Flexible working patterns may be considered
- A four-day pattern with longer working days may be considered depending on the nursery’s needs
Salary
£25,500–£27,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits.

Job Description
As a Nursery Assistant – Baby Room, you will support the delivery of safe, attentive and nurturing childcare within a modern, purpose-built nursery in Binfield, Bracknell. You will work with babies from birth to two years, helping each child feel secure and settled while following their individual feeding, sleeping and personal-care routines.
The Baby Room currently has capacity for approximately 18 children and is expected to grow to around 21 children from September. You will join an established and supportive team, helping maintain personalised care as the room continues to develop. The room includes separate areas for mobile and non-mobile babies, a dedicated milk kitchen for safe bottle preparation and direct access to an enclosed baby garden. These thoughtfully designed spaces support safe exploration, movement and age-appropriate indoor and outdoor learning.
The nursery follows the EYFS framework and promotes curiosity-led, nature-inspired learning. Working alongside experienced practitioners, you will support children’s physical, social, emotional and communication development through responsive care, purposeful play and positive relationships with families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, calm, caring and nurturing Baby Room environment
- Support feeding, sleeping, changing and personal-care routines
- Follow each child’s individual routine and respond sensitively to their needs
- Comfort and reassure babies as they settle into nursery life
- Prepare and support age-appropriate play and EYFS learning activities
- Encourage physical, social, emotional and communication development
- Observe children and share relevant information with qualified practitioners
- Build positive and professional relationships with parents and carers
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety procedures
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in training and team meetings
Requirements
- Previous experience caring for babies or young children
- Nursery, preschool or Baby Room experience is desirable
- A formal Early Years qualification is welcomed but is not essential
- A genuine interest in childcare, EYFS practice and early childhood development
- Confidence supporting feeding, changing, sleeping and personal-care routines
- Awareness of safeguarding, hygiene and health and safety responsibilities
- A kind, patient, dependable and caring approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to use initiative while working collaboratively with qualified practitioners
