Our respected mental health service in Baldock is seeking a full time Night Services Manager to oversee site‑wide care during night hours.

£50,601 per annum + benefits

Working Hours & Shift Pattern
Full‑time (41.4 hour per week) night shifts, shift pattern is 3 week one, 4 shifts week two and need to be available every other weekend.
Job Description
In this pivotal leadership role, The Night Services Manager will oversee the entire site during night hours within a specialist adult mental health setting based in Baldock, Hertfordshire (SG7). You will act as the senior clinician on site, ensuring that the high standards of care delivered during the day are maintained throughout the night. Working closely with nurses in charge and multidisciplinary ward teams, you will provide visible, proactive leadership that inspires confidence and supports excellent patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and continuity of care overnight
- Lead the site during night hours, providing proactive, visible clinical management
- Respond swiftly and effectively to medical and psychiatric emergencies
- Collaborate with nurses in charge and multidisciplinary teams across all wards
- Provide coaching, mentorship and support to team members to enhance practice
- Conduct random spot checks to ensure compliance with clinical standards and policies
- Ensure thorough handovers and maintain accurate, timely documentation
- Participate in audits and quality‑improvement initiatives to drive high standards
- Contribute to staffing, rota planning and escalation processes as required
- Communicate effectively with on‑call senior managers and doctors to maintain continuity of care
- Uphold regulatory and organisational standards for safety, governance and patient experience
Requirements
- Nursing qualification with current NMC registration (RMN or RNLD)
- Don't ned a sponsorship to work (required to work within the UK)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mental health setting
- Experience in older people’s mental health (OPMH) or psychiatric intensive care (PICU) is highly desirable
- Proven leadership and managerial abilities with a collaborative approach
- Strong clinical background with demonstrable assessment and intervention skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously, make confident decisions and remain calm under pressure
- Sound IT skills for documentation and reporting
