Working Hours & Shift Pattern
Part-time position working 2–3 days per week across acute wards. Hours typically follow daytime patterns with flexibility around clinical and service needs. Occasional variation may apply depending on caseload and MDT requirements. Breaks provided in line with policy.
Job Description
This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Forensic Psychologist to join a respected mental health service supporting adults with a range of complex needs. You will contribute to a specialist psychology programme, delivering assessments, formulations and tailored therapeutic interventions across acute wards. Working within a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will help shape high-quality clinical practice and contribute to an environment focused on safety, compassion, and evidence-based care. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured clinical interviews and utilise psychometrics, rating scales and behavioural observations
- Deliver psychotherapeutic assessments and evidence-based psychological interventions
- Formulate complex cases and develop personalised treatment plans
- Evaluate and interpret psychological tests and provide sensitive feedback
- Design, implement and review psychotherapeutic programmes aligned to clinical need
- Support MDT colleagues through consultation and indirect clinical input
- Contribute to risk assessment and risk management processes
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reporting standards
- Participate in MDT reviews and care planning under CPA guidelines
- Support service development and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
- HCPC-registered Psychologist (Forensic or Clinical with forensic experience)
- Experience assessing challenging behaviour and developing behavioural/treatment plans
- Proficiency in psychometric testing, interpretation and formulation
- Knowledge of CPA processes and MDT working
- Strong clinical risk assessment skills
- Experience providing consultation to MDT members
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage varied caseloads within a secure or acute setting
- Post-qualification therapeutic training desirable (CBT, CAT, DBT, systemic approaches)
- Experience working in forensic, acute, or rehabilitation environments desirable
