£27,000 - £29,000 per annum, dependent on experience and skills + benefits

- Wednesday to Friday: 11:00am - 7:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Job Description
As an Assistant Speech and Language Therapist, you will support autistic children and children with speech, language, communication, sensory, developmental, emotional and educational needs within a specialist paediatric clinic in Bromley, Greater London (BR2). This clinic-based Assistant Speech and Language Therapist role is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in SEND, Autism, education, psychology, ABA, therapy support or communication support who is committed to developing towards a career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
You will work under the guidance of supervising Speech and Language Therapists, supporting one-to-one therapy delivery, assisting with assessments, creating therapy resources and contributing to documentation, planning and clinical review processes. The clinic provides individualised clinical and therapeutic services in a calm, child-focused environment, with a strong emphasis on personalised support, clear communication and practical guidance for families. This role sits within a specialist allied health and private healthcare setting where children are supported as individuals and families are helped to understand next steps with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support autistic children and children with additional communication needs on a one-to-one basis
- Deliver communication programmes designed by supervising Speech and Language Therapists
- Assist with speech, language and communication assessments
- Support assessment analysis, therapy planning and accurate documentation
- Create therapy resources, communication materials and child-centred support tools
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, schools, SENCOs and multidisciplinary professionals
- Help provide practical strategies and support that can be applied within everyday environments
- Attend clinical supervision, MDT meetings and service development meetings
- Contribute to audits, quality improvement and research projects
- Maintain a neurodiversity-affirming, professional and child-centred approach
Requirements
- Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate
- HCPC registration is not required for this role, although a relevant background in Speech and Language Therapy, education, SEND, psychology, ABA or therapy support is highly beneficial
- Working towards an approved Speech and Language Therapy qualification leading to HCPC registration and long-term ambition to qualify and practise as a Speech and Language Therapist is highly desirable
- Experience working with children with Autism, SEND or additional communication needs
- Good understanding of Autism, neurodiversity-affirming practice and paediatric communication support
- Knowledge of communication approaches, with knowledge of SCERTS and ABA principles or willingness to undertake training
- Excellent spoken and written English, strong report-writing skills and good interpersonal communication
- Strong IT, organisational and documentation skills, with the ability to work under clinical guidance
