Job Description
As an Assistant Nursery Manager, you will support the day-to-day leadership of a welcoming nursery setting in Horsham, West Sussex RH13, helping to deliver high-quality childcare and engaging early years education within a supportive and child-focused environment.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced early years professional looking to progress into a senior nursery leadership role within a well-established childcare setting focused on learning, creativity, safeguarding, Ofsted standards, and positive relationships with children and families.
As an Assistant Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in supporting nursery operations, maintaining excellent EYFS standards, supporting nursery compliance, mentoring team members, and helping to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day running of the nursery setting
- Assist with nursery leadership, operational management, and team supervision
- Support high-quality EYFS learning and development delivery
- Maintain safeguarding, health, safety, welfare, and nursery compliance standards
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Support staff development, supervision, and operational guidance
- Monitor children’s progress, development, and wellbeing
- Ensure accurate documentation and nursery records are maintained
- Support compliance with nursery policies, procedures, and Ofsted expectations
- Work collaboratively with the wider nursery leadership team
Requirements
- You must have the permanent right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not available for this role
- Relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
- Previous experience working within a senior nursery or nursery leadership role
- Strong understanding of Nursery (EYFS) environments and childcare delivery
- Ability to support safeguarding, child development, operational standards, and nursery compliance
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and colleagues
- Ability to work independently while supporting nursery operations and team leadership
