We are recruiting for a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join a well-established healthcare organisation based in Newark-on-Trent. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to strengthen their accounting skills within a stable, structured environment. The Role
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Working closely with senior finance colleagues, you will help ensure accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and timely processing across multiple accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Maintain accurate ledgers, reconciliations, and financial records
- Process invoices, payments, expenses, and journals in line with internal controls
- Support VAT, CIS, and compliance-related financial processes (where applicable)
- Assist with audit preparation and financial documentation
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and processes
- Experience using accounting software and strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills
- AAT Level 4 qualified or working towards (desirable but not essential)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a finance or accounts-based role

Working Hours
